What to Wear to a Wedding

Choosing the Perfect Colour and Style

Attending a wedding is always a joyous occasion, but figuring out what to wear can sometimes be a bit daunting, even for your celebrant. Your attire not only needs to reflect the formality and theme of the wedding but also harmonize with the overall colour scheme and style. Choosing the perfect outfit, ensures you look and feel fabulous on this special day.

I love to have a clear understanding of your vision and the colour palette you have in mind and believe it is important to consider the season and the location of the wedding.  The goal should be to balance elegance and comfort.  Generally speaking, soft pastels and bright colours work well for spring and summer weddings, while rich, deeper tones are perfect for autumn and winter.  Neutral shades like blush, navy and champagne are universally flattering.  The formality of the wedding often dictates dress length and they should be comfortable enough for a full day of activities, from the ceremony to dancing at the reception.

As your celebrant, I want my attire to complement the bridal party and not compete and be both professional and appropriate.  It is nice to harmonise with the overall colour scheme and take cues from the venue – footwear at a beach wedding might call for a less traditional look! I like classic and understated styles and outfits that allow for easy movement while conducting the ceremony.  I opt for a polished but subtle hair and make up look that won’t draw too much attention away from the happy couple.  A distinctive accessory (like my shell earrings for the beach) can add a personal touch to the outfit.

Choosing what to wear to a wedding as a celebrant or a guest involves balancing personal style with the wedding’s theme and formality. Coordinating with you, considering the venue and season, and prioritizing comfort and appropriateness, our ‘look’ will enhance the beauty and harmony of the occasion. With thoughtful planning, everyone will not only look great but also contribute to the joyful celebration of love.
